The “X5 xDrive40d”, which has now been introduced in Japan, is equipped with a 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder diesel engine that produces a maximum output of 352PS, combined with a 48V mild hybrid system.
The first BMWX5 model debuted in 1999 as a sports activity vehicle (SAV) model that combines excellent off-road performance with high performance on paved roads. An improved new model with updated exterior and interior was launched in April 2023, based on the 4th generation model released in 2019.
The “X5 xDrive40d”, which has been added to the X5 lineup, is equipped with a 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder clean diesel engine that produces a maximum system output of 352 PS (259 kW) and a maximum torque of 720 Nm. Combined with a 48V mild hybrid system, it reduces engine load and optimizes efficiency. Furthermore, by adopting a coasting function, fuel efficiency has been significantly improved. It will fill the gap between the low-priced diesel grade “35d” and the hybrid grade “50e.”
